MISSION STATEMENTthrough a safety network and to offer supportive community education program. About the Okotoks Block Parent ProgramThe RCMP in Okotoks places a high value on it's long standing partnership with the Block Parent Program. All citizens of the Town of Okotoks benefit from a safer community whenever the police and the community combine their efforts. As Canada's largest volunteer-run safety/crime prevention organization, the Block Parent Program has over 500,000 volunteers throughout Canada. The red and white Block Parent sign is recognized across Canada as a symbol that guides children, seniors or anyone else in need of a safe haven at times of danger or distress. At a local level, the Block Parent Program has been serving this community for over 20 years! Our goal is to have one or more Block Parent homes on every block in every neighbourhood in Okotoks. The Okotoks detachment of the RCMP is greatly appreciative of the efforts of all of the volunteers who have helped to make this program the success that it is. The Block Parent Program is currently seeking new volunteers and encourages all who are interested to fill out an application. Click here to download the application
School PresentationsBlock Parent school presentations are presently done by invitation from the school teachers to Kindergarten and Grade one classes. We can also do presentations at day homes, preschools etc. The presentations take approximately 15 – 20 minutes per class and are intended as an introduction to the Block Parent sign and safe homes. We also touch on some safety basics and when to use and when NOT to use a Block Parent home. If you are interested in a presentation, please call Donna Fox at (403) 938-4396 for further information. |
